NJC Tells Buhari What To Do To Acting CJN Tanko Muhammad

WITH the recommendation of the National Judicial Council (NJC), the coast seems clear for Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad to mount the saddle as CJN. President Muhammadu Buhari is likely to accept the NJC’s recommendation that Justice Muhammad should be CJN, The Nation learnt on Thursday.

But Buhari is said to be weighing whether or not to accept the NJC’s recommendations on the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria ( CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen.Buhari, who had a meeting with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on the issue before flying out to Jordan yesterday, is also said to be seeking legal opinions on the NJC’s decisions.

Kolade Johnson: Police Dismiss Killer SACS Operative

The Nigeria Police Force on Thursday dismissed a police officer that allegedly killed a football fan, Kolade Johnson. According to Citizen Gavel, a non-governmental organisation, the judgement was given in an orderly room trial by the Nigerian Police.

The organisation wrote on Twitter: “Judgment has been given in the orderly room trial of the officers arrested in connection to the murder of Mr. Kolade Johnson. “They have been summarily dismissed from the force and they have been transferred to Panti SCIID for further investigation and criminal trial.”

In a statement on Thursday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, said after Olalekan’s dismissal, he was handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, for prosecution in a conventional court.

Enugu Election: INEC Replaces APC Senatorial Candidate, Eze

On a list tagged, “Final list of senatorial candidates”, for the 2019 general elections published on its website on Thursday morning, the electoral body had removed Ezeh’s name.A Federal High Court, on February 19, 2019, had nullified the candidature of Eze.

The court had declared that Ezeh was not properly nominated by the ruling party, being a member of opposition Peoples Democratic Party during the primary election of the APC. The court had further ruled that the plaintiff, Ogbu-Aguocha, who came second in the APC senatorial primary election held on October 2, 2018, was the rightful candidate since Uchenna Ezemba, who won the primary, had voluntarily stepped down.Ezemba had, shortly after the primary election, announced her withdrawal to pave the way for Ezeh, who lost his bid to clinch the PDP ticket.Ezeh, after his defeat in the PDP senatorial primary, defected to the APC where he was given the party’s ticket.

9th Assembly: Group Backs Gombe Lawmaker For Senate Presidency

The North-East Amalgamated Youths at the National Assembly on Thursday urged Senator Danjuma Goje (APC-Gombe Central) to declare his ambition for Senate Presidency without further delay.The group led by one Bello Ambo from Bauchi State, said neither the endorsement of Senator Ahmad Lawan by the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) nor the expression of interest by Senator Ali Ndume, should prevent Goje from throwing his hat into the ring.

Ambo said as far as public service experience was concerned, Goje stood far above the other two having controlled a whole state for eight years between 2003 and 2011.According to him, Danjuma Goje had the required parliamentary experience.”The position of Senate President requires administrative and parliamentary knowledge enormously possessed by Goje as against the two other contenders from the zone,” he said.

Supreme Court Adjourns Appeal On Rivers APC Primaries For The Second Time

The Supreme Court has once again shifted the hearing of the rivers state APC primary election for the nomination of candidates for the 2019 general election to Monday, April 8th and Thursday, April 11th for a hearing.

Naija News understands that the Apex Court adjourned hearing in the matters for various reasons but mainly for the absence of counsel to INEC who was said to have missed his flight from Porthacourt.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed the allegation that Kwara Governor-elect, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, forged his Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSSC).Abdularasaq was alleged to have forged the SSSC he presented to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the state’s gubernatorial election.

In a statement on Thursday, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Lanre Issa-Onilu, described the allegations as laughable.”Our attention has been drawn to the politically-sponsored allegation against the APC Kwara Governor-elect, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, that he forged the SSSC he presented for election,” he said.

Finally, Kidnappers Of Buhari’s Prayer Warrior Arrested

A notorious kidnapper, Lawal Ibrahim and members of his gang who kidnapped Sheikh Ahmad Sulaiman, a famous Islamic scholar and fanatical supporter of President Muhammadu Buhari and other clerics in Katsina State, northern Nigeria, have been arrested by security operatives while trying to flee the den.

The gang leader in a video said some members of the terror group brutally attacked and killed one another after releasing the popular Quranic reciter and other Islamic clerics.

According to PRNigeria, Ibrahim, a middle-aged man and another accomplice who gave his name as Isiyah, said ten of them were involved in the abduction of the renowned Islamic scholar who supported and offered prayers at political rallies for the re-election bid of President Muhammadu Buhari in the build-up to the 2019 general elections.The notorious kidnapper revealed that he never met or physically saw one Alhaji Dogo Nalade who he claimed was their ringleader but said Nalade regularly communicate with them via phone from an undisclosed hideout.
