NYSC DG Seeks Teamwork From Camp Officials, Warns Corps Members

The Director-General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Major General Suleiman Kazaure, has appealed to officials of the scheme nationwide to work with team spirit in order to achieve the mandate of the Orientation Exercise.

Kazure made the call during a meeting with resident officers, touring officers and support staff which held at the National Directorate Headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital on Friday, March 22.

Naija News reports that the call is coming at the time preparations for 2019 Batch ‘A’ Orientation Course is gathering momentum.

At the meeting, Kazure, who was represented by the Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Mrs Bose Okakwu urged them to assist the State Coordinators in the implementation of the management’s Orientation Policies for the successful conduct of the exercise.

The DG also urged the camp officials to carry out routine checks on critical camp facilities to ensure they are conducive for use by Corps Members and Camp Officials.

His words, “In the same vein, l charge you to pay special attention to the security situation at the camps. All suspicious movement should be promptly reported to the State Coordinators and security operatives in the camps for appropriate action”, Kazaure added.

Similarly, the Director-General gave an order that all Corps Members with a serious health challenge should be relocated immediately.

Kazaure admonished the resident officers to monitor the activities in the Camp Markets to ensure that unwholesome activities are not allowed.

“Corps Members should be sensitized and warned not to deface their NYSC uniforms while there should be a high level of discipline among participants and officials,” the DG cautioned.

Also speaking, the Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Mrs Bose Okakwu, whose address was read by Mr Etim Henry Enyenihi in her welcome address, said all staff must redouble their commitment to duty during and after the orientation exercise.

Meanwhile, Naija News understands that the Pre-Orientation Meeting with State Coordinators, Camp Directors and Camp Commandants designate commenced about four weeks ago for the Batch A 2019 service year.
