Maduagwu’s Impeachment Not Targeted At Governor Obiano

Rt Hon Ikemba Uzoezie, who was recently elected the Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, stated that the former speaker, Rita Maduagwu has been impeached and things remain so.

Uzoezie, while speaking with newsmen on Wednesday, stated that the report that the house was being sponsored by anti-government elements, with the hope of impeaching Governor Willie Obiano, was untrue.

Uzoezie, pledged his allegiance of the house to the state Governor, stating that it has nothing to do with Obiano and cannot target him for impeachment.

He explained that the house was just tired of the several ‘sins’ of Rt Hon Maduagwu and needed to effect a change of leadership, hence her removal.

Uzoezie, spoke with newsmen alongside 15 other members of the house around him, he said due process was rightly observed in the impeachment of the former speaker, and that nothing can change it.

He debunked previous assertions by the removed speaker, who had stated that due process was not followed in her removal.

“We have nothing against the Governor, so no one should begin to think that the impeachment of the Speaker was so we can get the Governor.

“We remain loyal to the Governor, and there is nothing to fear about,” Uzoezie said.
