1. Osinbajo meets with governors, ministers over new minimum wage

Members of the Economic Management Team led by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, held a meeting with some state governors with a view to making a decision on the new national minimum wage.

The meeting which held inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Monday also had ministers, the head of service of the federation and other top government functionaries in attendance.

2. SGF says board has no power to remove NHIS boss

In a new twist to the ongoing controversy over the suspension of Usman Yusuf, executive secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme(NHIS), Boss Mustapha, secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), has said no governing board of a federal agency or parastatal has the power to remove the chief executive officer (CEO) appointed by the president.

This he said while addressing the audience at an induction programme for governing board members of federal parastatals, universities and medical centres at the Transcorp Hilton.

3. Fayose regains freedom from EFCC custody

Ayodele Fayose, Ekiti state’s former governor has been freed on bail by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), after spending 13 days in its custody.

Fayose walked into the head office of the commission in Abuja on October 16 to answer questions based on alleged money laundering and abuse of office.

4. Police arrest 93 suspects in connection with Kaduna crisis

No fewer than 93 suspects have been apprehended by the Nigerian Police Force in connection to the crisis in some parts of Kaduna State.

The police revealed that the apprehended persons were accused of been responsible for the crisis that rocked the state.

5. Soldiers, Police and Shiites clash again in Abuja

Members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), better known as Shi’ites have been attacked by a combined team of policemen and soldiers reportedly opened fire on them this evening in Abuja.

The incident happened at Nyanya checkpoint along Mararaba road in the nation’s capital.

6. Governors to hold emergency meeting over minimum wage

Governors under the auspices of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum have summoned all 36 members to an emergency meeting to discuss the minimum wage and possibly take a common position.

The meeting, which is scheduled to hold in Abuja today, is said to be compulsory for all the 36 governors.

7. Buhari blames PDP administration for Nigeria’s poor infrastructure

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that with the huge resources at the disposal of Nigeria between 1999 and 2014, it was sad that infrastructure was not fixed uder the past PDP administrations.

Buhari said this when he received the outgoing British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Paul Arkwright, in a farewell audience at State House, Abuja, on Monday.

8. Ezekwezili accuses Buhari of corruption

Dr.Oby Ezekwesili, co-convener of the Bring Back Our Girls Movement, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of being corrupt.

Ezekwesili, who is the 2019 presidential candidate of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria, ACPN, said there is doubt that President Buhari is the most parochial, most nepotistic and most partisan president that Nigeria has ever had.

9. 188 people feared dead in Indonesian plane crash

Domestic flight of Indonesian low-cost airline Lion Air crashed Monday morning off the Indonesian coast shortly after taking off from Jakarta.

Search and rescue efforts are on-going with fears that all onboard the aircraft may have died following the accident.

10. Real Madrid sack Lopetegui as coach

Julen Lopetegui has been sacked as the Real Madrid coach on Monday after a board meeting of the club.

Lopetegui’s four and a half months in charge come to an end on Monday and Santiago Solari has been placed in temporary charge of the team until a permanent coach is appointed.
