1. INEC declares result of Osun governorship election inconclusive

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has declared the result of the Osun state governorship election which held on Saturday as inconclusive.

The election presiding officer, Prof. Joseph Fuwape, made the declaration at the INEC headquarters in Oshogbo.

2. National Assembly postpones resumption of plenary

The National Assembly has postponed its resumption from annual recess till next month, according to a statement by Clerk to the National Assembly, Mr. Mohammed Sani-Omolori, on Wednesday, entitled, ‘National Assembly Postponement Of Resumption Of Plenary.’

The lawmakers were slated to resume back to the assembly on Tuesday, 25th September.

3. INEC schedules September 27 for Osun governorship run-off

The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced that there would be a re-run election on Thursday, September 27 in Osun state.

The electoral body had earlier declared the governorship election in Osun state inconclusive due to the margin of victory between the two leading candidates.

4. President Buhari arrives New York ahead of UN general assembly

President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived New York ahead of the 73rd Session of United Nations General Assembly (UNGA73) which officially opened on Sept. 18.

The president accompanied by his wife, Aisha, departed the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja on Sunday morning and has arrived New York.

5. INEC official arrested for tearing election result

An alleged staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission was arrested by party supporters at Ayedaade Local Government area of Osun Stare for tearing an INEC result sheets believed to be under contention.

The man, Salawu Mutiu Kolawole, with an INEC identification card, said a superior officer, Mrs Aderinoye, called him and directed him to proceed to St Peter.

6. Saraki faults INEC’s verdict on Osun election

President of the Senate and Chairman, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Council on Osun State Gubernatorial Election, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has faulted the declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that the election results were inconclusive.

Saraki, in a statement signed by him, expressed dismay over the decision by INEC to declare as “inconclusive” an election in which a candidate won the highest number of votes and fulfilled the condition for geographical spread.

7. Armed bandits kidnap 7 in Zamfara, demand N100m ransom

The Zamfara State Police Command has revealed that seven people from Nahuche village of Bungudu Local Government have been kidnapped by armed bandits.

The villagers including a former councillor, Bello Daniya were kidnapped in the early hours of Sunday.

The abductors later released one of the victims with a note demanding N100 million as ransom to release the remaining victims.

8. APC chieftain in trouble for attending PDP rally

The All Progressive Congress (APC) has question the loyalty of Amb. Yahaya Kwande, an elder stateman and Board of Trustee (BOT) member of the party.

While speaking on the query signed by himself, the Plateau APC Chairman, Mr Letep Dabang, said that Kwande, a former ambassador to Switzerland attended and spoke at a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) function in Jos.

9. APC shifts presidential primary to September 27

The All Progressives Congress has shifted its presidential direct primary election earlier scheduled for Tuesday, September 25th, 2018 to Thursday, September 27th, 2018.

This was contained in a terse statement signed by its acting National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena, in Abuja.

10. PDP screens 30 governorship aspirants in North East

The screening committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has disclosed that it has screened the party’s 30 governorship aspirants in the North-East including Adamawa, Bauchi , Borno , Gombe. Taraba and Yobe.

Mr John Mathew, the Chairman of the five-man committee, made this development known in Bauchi, while also disclosing that one of the aspirants was disqualified.
