Former military head of state, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, yesterday held a closed door meeting with Senator David Mark, at his Hill top mansion in Minna, Niger State.
Mark who is a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant, was in Minna to brief Babangida about his political ambition.
The media assistant to David Mark, Mr Paul Mumeh, said Babangida praised Senator Mark for his “steadfastness in the service of the nation over the years without blemish”, saying “with your experience over the years, you have a lot to offer the nation”.
The statement also quoted the Director General of Mark campaign organization Senator Kure as saying the meeting between the two was fruitful.
According to the statement, Kure said Mark was the candidate to beat with his experiences in the military and civilian life spanning many years.
“We are bringing a man who is experienced and prepared to restore the pride and dignity of the giant of Africa. Nigerians would see the positive difference if Senator Mark is elected president in 2019”, the statement quoted Kure as saying.
