Court Orders Melaye Moved To Abuja For Treatment

The order was given by the Kogi State Chief Judge, Nasir Ajanah, who also said that hearing for his bail conditions will be heard on Monday, next week.

The order follows a motion filled by Melaye’s Counsel, Mike Ozekhome, (SAN), seeking the bail of the senator who is standing trial for conspiracy and gun running.

The interim order, the Chief Judge explained was to enable the senator receive medical attention, following the lack of facilities at the Police Clinic in Lokoja where he is been held in police custody.

The Senior Advocate told the Chief Judge that his client’s health was critical, hence the need for him to be transferred to the National Hospital Abuja for proper medical care, before the next adjoined date.

Prosecution counsel, Alex Iziyon, (SAN), represented by I.E Otome, did not object the consolidated motion.

The case has been adjourned till Monday, the 7th of May, for parties to argue for the bail condition of Senator Melaye.
