The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has announced that it released 250 trucks of petrol to Lagos to ensure the product is suffieciently availability.
The release of petrol was made known by its spokesman, Mr Ndu Ughamadu, on Sunday.
Ughamadu stated that a slight change in the distribution network had been made in Lagos, as the metroplolis is at present being supplied by the Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN).
He said: “At the weekend there was a hitch in discharging of petrol by ships which has been ratified. Today, 250 trucks have been discharged to Lagos compared to less than 200 trucks usually allocated to Lagos at the weekend”
The NNPC Group General Manager (Public Affairs) added that the ships which started discharging on Saturday night had finished offloading; noting that the long queues will soon fade out in Lagos.
Advising motorists to avoid petrol storing and panic buying, Ughamadu said there is sufficient petrol in stock that will last for days.
Meanwhile, a slight hitch at the Port Harcourt Refinery contributed to the issue of fuel scarcity, Ughamadu said, assuring that the issue will be sorted out today.
