IG decorates officer prosecuted for killing five Igbo traders

The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, on Wednesday, decorated Ibrahim Danjuma with his new rank of Commissioner of Police after he had been prosecuted and acquitted for the extrajudicial killing of five Abuja traders and a lady in 2005.

Danjuma was among 15 new CPs recently promoted by the Police Service Commission on the recommendation of the IG.

Edo ‘arrested’ doctor accuses board chair of victimisation

A medical doctor at the Edo State Sickle Cell Centre, Dr. Peter Iyawe, who was accused of unethical practice by the state government, has denied the allegation.

Governor Godwin Obaseki had during a meeting with parents and guardians of members of the Concerned Sickle Cell Sufferers Club at the Government House ordered the arrest of Iyawe after he was accused of allegedly giving the sufferers an addictive drug.

Fayose, Secondus kick as group opens parallel PDP secretariat

A group made up of about five men on Wednesday ‘opened’ a parallel secretariat for the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party, in Abuja.

The five men are Prince Obi Nwosu, Alhaji Hassan Adamu, Chief Olusola Akindele, Chief Godwin Duru and Franklyne Edede.

Price of cooking gas jumps by 21% in November

The average price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) rose by 21.16 percent, year-on-year in November. Also the average fare paid by commuters for bus journey within the city and intercity increased by 7.51 percent and 14.78 percent, respectively, month-on-month.

Secondus Opens Up On Claims That Atiku Is Working For APC

The new National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus has dismissed a report that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is secretly working for the All Progressive Congress, APC, irrespective that he decamped to PDP.

The new PDP chairman described the report as “a laughable fabrication in the social media”, adding that it is an unfounded publication to distract and cause division in the opposition party.‎

EFCC Releases Innoson CEO, Innocent Chukwuma

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has released the founder and chairman of Innoson Automobile Group, Dr. Innocent Chukwuma.

Naija News reports that Chukwuma was arrested by the anti graft agency on Tuesday morning at his residence in Enugu.

The EFCC spokeman, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed in a statement that the Innoson boss was released on Wednesday, saying his arrest was sequel to his refusal to respond to invitations by the Commission.
