Assassins kill two children in Akwa Ibom

-Father cries out over the death of two of his children, says his one 1-year-old son was spared.

A man identified as Aniekan Billie has reportedly lost two of his children -Godwin Sunday (9) and Idara Sunday (5).

The father,who is from Obiokpok in the Nsit Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, alleged that his children were murdered by suspected assassins on Sunday.

Billie, reported the incident to the police at the Ikot Akpan Abia division on Wednesday, claiming that he left his children at home under lock and key, after which he headed for Urua Kpokpo, a nearby community, to buy foodstuffs.

However, Billie said when he got home he met the corpse of two of his children,  in the house.

He noted that his one-year-and-seven-month-old son, Godspower, was the only one spared by the suspected assasins.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Bala Elkana, told our Punch that Billie reported the case to the police at about 2.35pm.

The State PPRO said the police had begun investigating the death.

“We will soon unravel the people that were behind the murder of the two children,” he added.

Elkana added that the remains of the children were kept in a freezer belonging to the family.
