2 explosions occur in Maiduguri

Two explosions have occurred in some parts of Maiduguri, Borno capital. The first explosion occurred occurred at about 8.30am, with the second following minitues later, at about 8.45am.

The explosions come a week after two female suicide bombers were intercepted by security personnel while attempting to invade the city to detonate explosives strapped to their bodies.

Nigeria Navy vows to deal with Niger Delta Avengers

The Nigerian Navy has vowed to deal decisively with any group or organization that threatens the territorial integrity of the nation.

It warned that nobody would be allowed to vandalize the nation’s assets under whatever guise.

The chief of naval staff, Rear Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, disclosed this on Monday when he visited the Nigerian Navy Engineering College in Sapele, Delta.

Boko Haram: Residents flee as terrorists invade community

Boko Haram terrorists have invaded Gulak village, the headquarters of Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

The Adamawa State Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Ahmad Sajoh, told Channels TV that the Nigerian Army and the insurgents were engaged a gun battle while residents fled the village for their lives, hiding in bushes and mountains due to fear.

The Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, has revealed the probability of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winning the 2019 general elections, against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The Minister addressed journalists in Lagos saying it would be tragic for the nation to be controlled by the PDP as they left the nation in “hell”.

A new ASUU strike might be strike might be looming across Nigeria Universities as the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is expected to hold its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting this week.

The ASUU NEC, which is the highest decision making body of the union, is to review Federal government’s implementation of the Memorandum of Action (MoA) it signed with the union before it suspended its strike a few months ago

‘Militants’ kill British citizen kidnapped in Delta state

The British High Commission in Nigeria has confirmed that one of the four missionaries kidnapped in Delta State in October, by suspected militants, has been killed.

BBC reports that Ian Squire was an optician who, before his abduction and subsequent murder, was participating in a charity programme where the local residents were being administerd free medical.
