#ASUUStrikeUpdate: See Universities That Have Voted To Suspend Strike

The result of how members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities voted on its lingering industrial action has emerged.

Hopes of students resuming classes seem dashed with a large percentage of the schools voting in favour of the continuation of the strike.

However, the National Executive Council (NEC) of the union is expected to rule on the results of the vote on Sunday if the strike would continue or not.

ASUU has been on strike since the 14th of February, 2022.

The union had demanded the renegotiation of the ASUU-FGN 2009 agreement; release of revitalisation funds for universities; deployment of the University Transparency Accountability System for the payment of salaries and allowances of university lecturers; release of earned allowances; and the release of the white paper report of the visitation panels to universities.

Recall that the Abuja branch of the ASUU, on Tuesday, stated that its industrial action continues.

The branch while stating the reason for its stand claimed that the Federal Government is yet to take action on its demands.

The ASUU branch chairman, Kassim Umaru, while addressing newsmen, charged the Federal Government to refer to efforts put in place to end the ongoing strike.

Umaru disclosed that the union deliberated on issues around the strike and rejected the offer presented by the Federal Government during the congress, held at the University’s Mini Campus in Gwagwalada on Tuesday.
