1. President Buhari orders ministers to return Nigerians stranded in Russia to the country

President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama and Minister of State, Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika, to commence the process of returning Nigerians who travelled to Russia for the FIFA 2018 World Cup and got stranded after the competition.

The Nigerian football fans got stranded in the country following the activities of some fraudulent travel agents who cancelled their return tickets and abandoned them to their fate.

2. Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom dumps APC

Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom has announced that he is no longer with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ortom who was at the at the banquet hall of the Government House in Makurdi was swearing in the newly appointed Special Adviser on Local Government and Cheftaincy Affairs, Jerome Torshimbe.

3. Dasuki close to freedom as Judge signs bail application

The former National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki (Rtd) is to regain his freedom in any moment as a Federal High Court Judge, Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu formally endorsed the bail application granted him on July 2, 2018.

Dasuki has been in detention camp of Department of State Security Service (DSS) since December 29, 2015 when he was rearrested by security operatives.

4. Heavy rains kill 25, destroys several homes in Katsina

Heavy rainfall has ravaged the Jibia town of Katsina State, killing 25 people and wrecking 80 homes.

The rainfall accompanied with heavy winds, which started at about 11pm last night and lasted till 3am this morning have rendered so many homeless.

5. Donald Duke rejects PDP’s presidential zoning formula

Former governor of Cross River state, Donald Duke, says the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) cannot zone his constitutional rights as he reserves the right to dream, win or lose the party’s presidential ticket.

Duke also said he had always wanted to be president since 2005, with the plan to solve Nigeria’s productivity problem.

6. IPOB rejects Atiku’s restructuring plan, insist on Biafra

Prince Emmanuel Kanu, younger brother of the leader of the pro Biafra group, Nnamdi Kanu has said said that former vice president, Atiku Abubakar should do away with his restructuring, stressing that “what the people of the area need is nothing but Biafra”.

He was reacting to Atiku‘s statement that if he becomes the president in 2019, he will restructure the country in such a way IPOB would jettison the idea of Biafra.

7. Nigerian Army denies reports of its troops getting missing

The Nigeria Army on Monday denied the report that some Nigerian soldiers and military trucks were missing after an alleged attack by Boko Haram in Bama, Borno.

In a statement issued by Brig Gen Texas Chukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, he said the report was not only untrue but misleading.

8. Gov. Obaseki places N10m bounty on killers of 4 policemen

A N10 million bounty has been placed by the governor of Edo State, Gov. Godwin Obaseki on the persons responsible for the killing of Policemen in Sabon-gida Ora, Owan West Local Government Area of Edo, on July 14.

Mr Crusoe Osagie, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Communication Strategy made this bounty known, after the governor held an emergency security meeting with security chiefs in Benin on Monday.

9. APC wants Saraki to clarify his stand within the party

Deputy national publicity secretary of APC, Yekini Nabena, on Sunday, in a statement asked the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, to tell the world whether he is still in the ruling All Progressives Congress or not.

Nabena stated that it is necessary for Saraki to declare because Saraki’s close allies, including Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje and Chief of Staff Dr. Hakeem Baba Ahmed, had left the APC.

10. Christiano Ronaldo unveiled as a Juventus player

Juventus, a Seria A club has, on Monday evening, officially unveiled Cristiano Ronaldo after passing a medical earlier in the day.

The 33 years old Portuguese forward said that he remain determined to make his make in the Italian club, after completing his move to Juventus from Real Madrid.
