How Tinubu Can Stop Me From Becoming Senate President - Orji Kalu

The Chief Whip of the Senate, Orji Uzor Kalu on Tuesday disclosed that he would comply if the President-elect, Bola Tinubu tells him not to contest for the Senate President seat in the 10th National Assembly.

Kalu made the declaration while speaking with state house correspondents shortly after his closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari over his senate presidency ambition.

The former Abia State Governor hinted that though he has not gotten any official endorsement, he is hopeful that the party’s final decision would be favourable to him.

However, Kalu said if Tinubu tells him to step down, he would do so even though he has already declared that it is his turn.

As earlier reported by Naija News, Kalu, while speaking with the State House Correspondents shortly after the meeting with the President, said Buhari didn’t give him an automatic endorsement but exhibited a favourable disposition to his ambition to become the President of the Senate.

Kalu said he would gladly accept the position if zoned to the South and would not want to rock the boat but work in the interest of Senate leadership.

He said he was optimistic that when elected to preside over the Senate, he would promote peace among its rank and file.
