Mixed reactions have trailed the projection of results made by ThisDay newspaper on the forthcoming 2023 presidential election.

Naija News earlier reported that the ThisDay projection analyzed a possible outcome of the 2023 presidential election and key states the major candidates may win.

According to the poll analysis, with the 2023 general elections less than two months away, there are tendencies that there would be a presidential run-off.

The stats by the THISDAY 2023 Election Centre showed the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, coming clear with massive votes in 21 states with the APC flagbearer, Bola Tinubu, also hopeful of garnering massive votes from 20 states.

The stats also showed the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, coming fourth behind Peter Obi of the Labour Party.

With insignificant postings in many states to satisfy the constitutional requirement of 25 percent of votes cast in 24 states, the stat is predicting an inconclusive election.

Reacting to the development, some Nigerians have condemned and rejected the projection made by the newspaper, while others appreciated the poll and the effort of the media outfit.

See some of the reactions below.

@doyinokupe wrote: “ThisDay projections ignored many important electoral parameters that have operated in our polity over more than 60yrs. Without any doubt PO will score 25% in no less than 24/25 states including Taraba, adamawa&Gombe & will lead all the other 3 numerically. He is d candidate to beat.

@Callme_tejiri wrote: “It’s not even a poll it’s a projection. All polls that’s have been conducted have shown that Peter is leading so this is laughable.

@royaltyuso wrote: “It’s so funny watching @ARISEtvright now. Their studio is downcast. Also, @ruffydfire
feels deflated and suppressed because the Labour Party did very poorly in the latest Thisday Election Polls. Rufai, please get yourself and face reality.

@adrichard01 wrote: “All these Obi supporters need to be studied in the University. Believing that Obi can contest with the likes of Atiku & Tinubu successfully in this present Nigeria is still baffling me.”

@nnabros wrote: “Fakest polls ever. All numbers rounded up to multiples of 5. No information about the sample size. Zero science, 100% beer parlor abi Wadata numbers. Atiku don pay heavily for this one.” 😂

@BashirAhmad wrote: “Hilarious, so Obi can get up to 70% in Anambra, and you projected our candidate to get 45% in Lagos. You’re really joking. Asiwaju will get 80%+ in Lagos, Lagosians are for Jagaban.”

@AbdulMahmud01 wrote: “We – Obidients- take the “This Day Election Centre Projections” for what they are: guide to work and more work for the Obidient Movement.

@Alexial91857450 wrote: “I am from Edo and I can beat my chest to tell you that 70% of Edo people are for peter obi..I don’t know where you are getting your 35% from,, go to the grassroots and do a proper poll like anap instead of setting in your offices and using 2015,2019 tactics to predict 2023.”

@afolagbenga wrote: “When I see any projection the first state I run to check is Kwara. If I see a projection saying Tinubu has anything less than 70% in Kwara I know that it is trash that state even opposition parties are voting for Tinubu.”

Uzochi_O wrote: “The ridiculousness of these projections is how ThisDay/Arise TV is quick to counter whatever ANAP polls come up with every other time. The good thing however is that this is an improvement from the last time.
They have conceded the SE to Obi and some states in the SS and NC.

@tunbosunlaw98 wrote: “Which kinda gutter projection is this, Obi 20% for Lagos? 🤡🤡😂😂 Obi 5% for Ogun, which kinda play is this? I am dead. The only living politician that has the balls of beating Obi for Lagos and Ogun naa Tinubu, Atiku doesn’t come close at all.”

@emekabk21 wrote: “This is the greatest joke of the Century. PO will take 30% of Kaduna votes[ Southern Kad] people are voting for their lives. PO will win Taraba. PO will take 35% of Lagos votes.PO will take 25% of Kogi, Nassarawa, and Gombe. PO will take 25% of votes in every state in the SW.
