Why Four Men Gang-raped Me – Anambra Teenager Shares

A teenager in Anambra State has narrated her awful experience with sexual assault, revealing why she was raped by four men who were her neighbours.

Reports had revealed that the 13-year-old girl was gang-raped by four adults living in the same location with her in Nkpor, near Onitsha.

The National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, who got wind of the incident, reportedly collaborated with vigilantes and had three persons arrested.

Confirming the incident to newsmen, the state Commissioner for Women and Social Affairs, Ify Obinabo, said that four suspects were involved in the incident and that only three were arrested as the fourth suspect escaped when security operatives invaded their neighbourhood.

Speaking through her media aide, Chidimma Ikeanyionwu, Obinabo said the culprits had been handed over to the state police headquarters in Awka, where they would be prosecuted.

While answering questions from journalists, two of the suspects reportedly acknowledged involvement in the crime and pleaded for forgiveness.

On her part, the victim said the suspects raped her after a disagreement with her father. Though the third suspect insisted that he was only present when the incident happened, the girl argued that he was the second person to have carnal knowledge of her.

“According to the victim, the suspects were co-tenants with them but took her to Nkisi River to rape her after they had an altercation with her father.

“While narrating her experience, the victim said the boys first slapped her before she was dragged to Nkisi where she was ordered to remove her clothes as the suspects took turns to have carnal knowledge of her,” the commissioner added.

The commissioner lauded the victim for speaking up after the incident and assured her that she would get justice.
