NDLEA Speaks On Recruiting Underage As Operative

The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has secured 984 convictions since January to date on drug-related offences.

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, General Mohammed Buba Marwa (rtd) disclosed this in Yola, the Adamawa State capital when he received the new Executives of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Adamawa State.

General Buba Marwa who congratulated the new executives over their victory at the recent NUJ council election charged them to champion the fight against drug abuse through the media.

The NDLEA boss said, about fifteen million out of the two hundred million population of Nigeria are into drugs and many of them are addicted.

He said President Muhammadu Buhari has launched ‘War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) to reinvigorate the fight against hard drugs.

He further added that more rehabilitation centres are on the way across the nation, advocating for collective efforts through traditional and religious instructions as well as the media in safeguarding the nation against hard drugs.

Speaking earlier, the Chairman of NUJ, Adamawa State council, Comrade Ishaka Donald Dedan who congratulated General Buba Marwa over subduing the trafficking of hard drugs and addiction across the nation pledged the union’s cooperation in enlightening the public on the scourge of hard drugs.
