G-5 Govenor Never Agreed To Support Peter Obi - Wike

The former governor and 2023 presidential candidate on the platform of Labour Party, Peter Obi, has met with Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike on Wednesday in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State.

There have been speculations that the Rivers governor is plotting an exit from the Peoples Democratic Party since former Vice President Atiku Abubakar decided to pick the Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate.

Naija News reports that the Rivers governor has remained silent on the affairs of the party that has seen two of his allies, a former minister of Niger Delta, Godsday Orubebe and an ex-commissioner in Edo State, Kassim Afegbua dump the PDP on Tuesday.

It’s however unclear why the former Anambra governor visited the Rivers state governor but it may be connected to the 2023 Presidential Elections.

Recall, the national publicity secretary of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), Dr. Agbo Major, said the party’s presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso can’t deputize for the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi due to the disapproval from external forces.

Major who was on Arise TV on Tuesday said the party’s Presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, can’t agree to be Peter Obi’s running mate, when he was asked about the current situation on the proposed alliance.

Agbo added that many people have called the leadership of the party, expressing their disapproval of the suggestion that Kwankwaso becomes Obi’s running mate.
