Soldiers could also be seen chasing and destroying properties of the protesters.

The Ondo state chapter chairman of the National Association of Nigeria Students, Surprise Omotoso said security personnel, including the state commissioner of police, were on ground with the protesters before the military arrived.

He stated that operatives of the Nigeria Army fired shots at the unarmed protesters, scattering the canopies and instruments.

Omotoso said: “It all started as a peaceful protest, security personnel including the commissioner of police were on ground,” he said.

“The Nigerian military personnel started shooting at the peaceful protesters, destroying our instruments and canopies. We just want to know why they disrupted the protest without addressing us.”

Recall that students have held protest across major cities in Lagos, Oyo, Osun, demanding for an end to the over 90 days old ASUU Strike and for the reopening of universities.
