Nigeria Vs Ghana

The Black Stars of Ghana and their national team officials have touched down in Abuja today ahead of Tuesday’s 2022 World Cup Qualifier playoff against Nigeria.

The Super Eagles had earlier settled for a goalless draw with the Ghanaian team three days ago at the Baba Yara Stadium Kumasi.

Tomorrow’s match is, however, a decisive game for the two African countries as the winning side will have the chance to travel to Qatar for the next World Cup, Naija News reports.

Should the match end in a score draw tomorrow, Nigeria will forfeit a ticket to the 2022 Qatar to rival Ghana.

The Otto Addo-led team will have this evening to train at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, to get a feel of the venue ahead of the game.

The Black Stars will come up against 60,000 Nigerian fans at the national stadium, after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) granted the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF)’s request to have the stadium at full capacity, Naija News reports.

Meanwhile, England-born professional footballer, Ademola Lookman, has explained why he accepted the invitation to play for the Nigerian National team.

Naija News understands that Ademola currently plays as a winger for Premier League club Leicester City, on loan from Bundesliga club RB Leipzig.

The 24-year-old player had represented England at youth levels and was among the U-20 side that won the FIFA World Cup in South Korea back in 2017.

The young lad in February 2022, received approval from the Federation Of International Football Association (FIFA) to represent Nigeria through his parents.

An invitation, the English player honourably say yes to.

Lookman made his debut for the Super Eagles against the Black Stars of Ghana in a 2022 FIFA World Cup playoff last Friday in Kumasi, Naija News reports.

He replaced Moses Simon in the 74th minute during the tough encounter in the West African country.

Speaking about his decision ahead of another encounter with Ghana in Abuja for the second leg of the qualifier match, Lookman said: “I am very excited to be part of Nigeria’s national team and I am feeling blessed and looking forward to helping the team.

“Both my parents are Nigerians and I have always seen these [representing Nigeria] as a possibility. I came to Nigeria frequently when I was much younger,” Lookman told CAFOnline.com.

He added: “I am familiar with the people and built up a family here, so the switch from England to Nigeria is not an unusual one for me. I am glad I made the switch.”
