King Sunny Ade Turns 74

King Sunny, Legendary Nigerian juju singer, has turned 74 today.

Born, Sunday Adeniyi Adegeye, the Member of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is a multi-award-winning singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.

Sunny Ade is listed as one of the first African pop musicians to attain international success and fame

Popularly known for his fluid dance moves, boundless stage energy and vast collaborative variety, the legend was born in Osogbo to a Nigerian royal family in Ondo and Akure, his father was a church organist, while his mother, Maria Adegeye (née Adesida), was a trader.

Sunny Ade has collaborated with major artists such as Manu Dibango and Stevie Wonder as well as younger Nigerian artists such as Wasiu Alabi Pasuma and Bola Abimbola.
