1. President Buhari Travels Out Of Nigeria On Umrah To Saudi Arabia

President Muhammadu Buhari has accepted an invitation by the King Salman Bin Abdulaziz, the ruler of Saudi Arabia and Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to perform the Umrah (lesser pilgrimage) in the Kingdom.

A Statement by Senior Special Assistant to the President, Garba Shehu and made available to Naija News, today confirmed that the President, accompanied by close personal aides, will embark on the journey on Thursday, 16th May.

2. How Politicians Are Sponsoring Killings In Nigeria- Buratai

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai today has expressed frustration as he admitted the challenge of recurring killings across the country, despite military might and efforts made to fight back.

He also attributed the spate of criminality in the country to the political class who lost in the general elections adding that the Military have strong evidence to verify this claim.

5. Tribunal Tells Atiku, PDP What To Do To Get Justice Bulkachuwa Disqualified

The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal has told the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to formally file an application asking the President of the Court of Appeal and chairman of the five-man panel, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, to withdraw.

The tribunal gave the directive on Wednesday following the meeting the panel members held with lawyers appearing in the case.

6. Court Declares New Kano Emirates Null and Void

A Kano State high court has declared the appointment and the installation of four new emirs by the Kano state government led by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje as “null and void.”

A report monitored on The Guardian by Naija News, says the ordered a return to status quo pending the hearing of the suit against the appointment of the emirs.

7. Senate Screens CBN Governor, Emefiele

The Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions have begun the screening of Godwin Emefiele as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for a second term.

This is following a mandate given to the committee on Tuesday by the Senate at plenary.

8. Prepare For An Increase In Petrol Pump Price, Rewane Tells Nigerians

Bismarck Rewane, chief executive officer of Financial Derivatives Company Limited, has told Nigerians to prepare for an imminent increase in the pump price of petrol.

Rewane, who gave the warning during a presentation at the Lagos Business School, disclosed the rise in the pump price of petrol is to be expected as the federal government is working on reduction/removal of subsidy payments.

9. Abia State Governor, Ikpeazu Dissolves Cabinet

The Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, has dissolved the state executive council.

The Governor in a statement released through his Chief Press Secretary, Enyinnaya Appolos, stated that six out of the 27 commissioners were retained.

10. Buhari Using Lip Service, Not Practicing True Federalism -PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a swipe at President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) noting that they not committed to true federalism but just paying lip service to it.
