Nigerian Senate Passes Nigerian Peace Corps Bill

The Nigerian Senate today 25 July passed the Nigerian Peace Corps bill on an advice by the committee on judiciary, human rights and legal matters.

The upper legislative chamber adopted a conference committee report on the bill before passing the bill.

The bill which had been long overdue had suffered a lot of setback in the past.

We don’t know when President Buhari will return – Presidency

Inspite of the the meeting President Buhari held with APC state governors on Sunday, no date has been fixed for Buhari’s return to Nigeria.

Breaking: Explosion in Bayelsa prison, security force foils jail break

A prison break was foiled at the Okaka Prisons in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, today as prisoner tried a jail break with the use of explosion.

Naija News gathered that the mastermind of the attempted jailbreak, Victor Tekekuma, blew the prison cell with an improvised explosive device.

Three Corrupt Police Officers dismissed in Lagos

The Nigeria Police Force of Lagos state police command has dismissed three police officers; Okelue Nkemeonye, Braimoh Sunday and Yusuf Olukoga found guilty of extortion and illegal arrest.

An assistant commissioner of police, Abayomi Shogunle, revealed this, and also disclosed that action was taken against the dismissed officers after a complaint.
He also urged members of the public to report the misconduct of police officers.

Southern Kaduna will go with Biafra if Nigeria breaks up

The coordinator of the Centrum Initiative for Development and Fundamental Rights Advocacy, John Danfulani says  if Nigeria breaks up, the people of southern Kaduna will go with Biafra.

According to PUNCH, Danfulani said this on Monday when he visited Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), in Abia state.
