Insecurity: Adamawa Relocates 12 NECO Centres [See Affected Schools]
The Adamawa State Government has relocated 12 National Examination Council (NECO) centres to safer locations following heightened security concerns in the North-East.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Human Development, Hajiya Aisha Mohammed Umar, said the decision followed the recent abduction of students and teachers in neighbouring Borno State on June 29, 2026.
She said the incident raised concerns over the safety of students, teachers, invigilators, supervisors and NECO officials.
Umar explained that the relocation was a precautionary measure aimed at protecting candidates and examination personnel while ensuring the smooth conduct of the ongoing NECO examinations.
She stressed that the decision was taken in the best interest of the state and the safety of its students and teachers.
According to her, the relocation will remain in effect until the security situation improves.
