‘They Killed One Teacher, Took Away All Students’ – Gov Fintiri’s Aide Confirms Abduction

A teacher has been confirmed dead while dozens of students were abducted after gunmen attacked Government Day Secondary School, Lassa, in the Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.

Naija News understands that Lassa is a border community between Borno and Adamawa states.

The Special Adviser to the Adamawa State Governor on Media and Strategy, Mr Solomon Kwamagar, confirmed the attack to Punch Online on Monday.

Kwamagar, who is a resident of Lassa, said the attackers arrived on motorcycles before invading the school.

According to Kwamagar, “Today is Lassa market day. I was informed that they came through the market on motorcycles and went to Government Day Secondary School, Lassa. They shot and killed one teacher and took away all the students who were in their classrooms.”

Kwamagar said efforts were still ongoing to confirm the number of students and teachers abducted during the attack.

“I’m still making contacts to ascertain the total number of students and teachers who were kidnapped from the school,” he added.

He also noted that Lassa, though in Borno State, is predominantly inhabited by the Margi people, who are found in both Borno and Adamawa states.

At the time of filing this report, neither the Borno or Adamawa State governments have released a statement in respect to the attack.
