Wadada Came To My House With Tears After Losing APC Ticket – Ex Minister Maku
Former Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, has said that Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada reached out to him after losing the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial ticket ahead of the 2023 general election.
Naija News reports that Maku made the claim during an interview on TVC, where he spoke about the events that led to Wadada leaving the ruling party.
He explained that Wadada won the Nasarawa North senatorial seat in 2019 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) but later ran into internal party issues that affected his chances of returning as the party’s candidate in 2023.
According to Maku, the situation pushed the senator to seek support elsewhere.
He said Wadada personally visited him after the party decision and was emotional about losing the ticket.
Maku added that during their meeting, he encouraged the senator not to give up on his political career and told him that his work in office could still earn him support from voters, no matter the party he chose.
The former minister further explained that shortly after this period, Wadada moved to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) just weeks before the election.
He said: “Senator Wadada came to my house in tears after he was denied the APC ticket. He was very disturbed about what happened, and he came to speak with me personally. I told him not to abandon his political journey because one setback does not end a career. I advised him that his work in office would still speak for him, no matter the party he joins.”
