‘APC Consensus Candidate Failed To Keep Promises Made To Me’ – Iyabo Obasanjo

Daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Iyabo, has attributed her resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to issues with the party’s consensus candidate in Ogun State.

Naija News reports that Iyabo, speaking on the Morayo Show, said she resigned from the APC because she was upset that the party’s consensus candidate failed to keep the promises he made to her and her followers.

She said, “I resigned from the APC because I was upset that the consensus candidate failed to keep the promises he made to me and my followers.”

Recall that the PDP in Ogun State recently handed the senatorial ticket for Ogun Central to Iyabo ahead of the 2027 election.

Iyabo secured the ticket after being officially received into the PDP fold at a massive rally held at the party secretariat in Abeokuta, following her recent defection from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The reception was preceded by a procession through major streets in Abeokuta by Senator Obasanjo, flanked by the party’s governorship candidate, Ladi Adebutu, her supporters, and PDP members from Ogun Central and other parts of the state.

The PDP State Chairman, Abayomi Tella, while presenting the PDP flag to Senator Obasanjo, welcomed her back to the party and announced her as the PDP candidate for Ogun Central in the next election.
