Primaries: ‘APC 31 Governors Could Become A Time Bomb’ – Obun Faults Revised NASS List

A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Cletus Obun, has opined that the party is taking past errors for granted simply because it has 31 governors.

Naija News recalls that the APC National Working Committee (NWC) dropped former Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam, and five other senatorial hopefuls from the party’s final list of candidates submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Reacting to the development, Obun, during an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Morning Show’, said the revised list of National Assembly candidates could return the party to its past troubles.

According to him, APC cannot afford to repeat its mistakes, stressing that the governors could become a time bomb for the party if the current issue is not addressed.

Obun added that the party must exercise due diligence and present only candidates who actually participated in and won the primaries.

He said, “Revised National Assembly list could return the APC to its past troubles.

“If any APC member seeks to sabotage the party through subterfuge by importing candidates, that individual will be treated as a saboteur.

“What INEC is doing with the APC right now is sanitising the process. There is growing anger between the APC’s foundational members and new entrants.

“We are taking past errors for granted simply because the party has 31 governors. Those governors could become a time bomb for the party if this issue is not addressed.”
