‘Proceeds Of Victory’ – Imo APC Reveals Why Tinubu Must Be Re-elected
The Imo State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Austin Onyedebelu, has said the party leadership in the state will “fight like a wounded lion” to ensure the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
Naija News reports that Onyedebelu made the declaration during a stakeholders’ meeting between the State Working Committee of the party and APC officials from the nine local government areas and 105 wards in Owerri Zone.
The meeting was attended by local government party executives, ward executives, elected council chairmen, councillors and other party officials.
Addressing the gathering, Onyedebelu said unity remained the party’s strongest weapon ahead of the next general elections.
He said members and leaders of the party must work together to secure overwhelming victories for Tinubu and other APC candidates in the state.
The APC chairman also warned party officials that they would be held accountable for the party’s performance in their respective areas.
“If you lose our votes we are going to hold you responsible. Don’t tell us why you failed after the election.
“Tell us now what will make you fail so we can address it. If there is anything or any leader that will sabotage our efforts, you must tell us now for us to address it,” he said.
Onyedebelu urged members to focus on genuine grassroots mobilisation, insisting that real votes, not shortcuts, would deliver victory for the party.
He said there was no other way to win elections than to rely on real votes, adding that this could only be achieved through unity.
The state party chairman also cautioned members against anti-party activities, warning that those who work against their party would have little to gain if the opposition wins.
“If you support the opposition to win against your party, when they begin to share the proceeds of victory, they will first reward their own party members before remembering you,” he added.
Onyedebelu described the 2027 general elections as a defining moment for Owerri Zone in its aspiration to produce the next governor of Imo State.
Earlier, the State Secretary of the APC, Onyekachi Ibezim, said the meeting was convened to allow the State Working Committee to interact directly with party executives at the local government and ward levels ahead of the 2027 elections.
He described the officers as the engine room of the party at the grassroots and said they would be held responsible for the party’s success in the coming polls.
Responding on behalf of Owerri Zone, the APC State Vice Chairman for the zone, Justus Ogu, assured the State Working Committee that the zone would not disappoint the party.
He said Owerri Zone would deliver victory for the APC from the presidential election down to the state House of Assembly contests.
