Kwara Governor Sacks Deputy Chief Of Staff, Principal Private Secretary, Others (Full List)
The Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq, has relieved his Deputy Chief of Staff, Principal Private Secretary, and several political appointees of their duties.
He described the development as a minor cabinet reshuffle.
The Governor’s decision, which was announced in a statement on Monday signed by his Deputy Chief Press Secretary, Mashood Agboola, also affected all Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, and Special Assistants.
According to the statement, Governor Abulrazaq said the decision is to extend opportunities to more party members and inject fresh energy into the administration.
Naija News reports that the Governor directed all affected political appointees to hand over all government properties in their custody to the Office of the Secretary of the State Government.
“His Excellency expresses his gratitude to all the appointees for their priceless service to the state.
“He wishes them the best in their future endeavours,” the statement read in part.
Meanwhile, ten governorship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State have petitioned President Bola Tinubu over what they described as a deepening crisis in the party.
The aspirants alleged that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq had “lost moral and political authority” to determine the future of the APC in the state ahead of the 2027 elections.
The petition, issued and addressed to Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, warned that the party risked further division without urgent national intervention.
The signatories include Dr Oluwatoyin Tajudeen Alabi, Capt Ahmad Mahmud, Alhaji Tajudeen Audu, Dr Azeez Salako Muideen Olaniyi, Ambassador Yahaya Seriki Gambari, Senator Saliu Mustapha, Dr Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa, Hon Omar Muhammed Bio, Dele Belgore, SAN, and Senator Yahaya Ibrahim Oloriegbe.
The aspirants reaffirmed their loyalty to Tinubu and his administration.
