Nigeria Is Making So Much Money, Yet Poverty Is Rising – Baba-Ahmed Blasts Tinubu

The National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has criticized the administration of President Bola Tinubu, saying the government introduced major economic policies without proper planning and has failed to solve the country’s pressing problems.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, Baba-Ahmed said the Federal Government did not carry out enough preparation before removing the fuel subsidy.

Naija News reports that he argued that such an important policy should have been carefully examined to understand its possible benefits, risks, opportunities and challenges before it was introduced.

According to him, the subsidy removal was not properly planned before President Tinubu assumed office.

Baba-Ahmed said governments should not introduce policies of such importance without first studying their likely effects on the economy and the people.

He also said Nigerians were not adequately prepared for the hardship that followed the fuel subsidy removal.

The former presidential adviser maintained that such a policy required careful planning and appropriate measures to mitigate its impact on citizens before implementation.

He said: “The President came to power with fairly good credentials. You would think a man who is so ambitious and who said, ‘It’s my time,’ would come to power and tackle some of the most fundamental problems of this country, insecurity, cost of living and corruption. He did none of those things. Now we’re here. Nigeria is making so much money, and yet poverty levels are rising, insecurity is rising and corruption is rising.”
