Many Trapped As 3-Storey Building Collapses In Lagos
Several people have been feared trapped after a three-storey building collapsed in the Alakija area of Lagos State on Thursday morning.
Naija News understands that the building reportedly came down around 11:40 a.m. near the Alakija axis, inward Satellite Town, causing panic among residents and passersby in the area.
According to Leadership, the exact number of people believed to be under the rubble could not be confirmed immediately.
Following the incident, a crowd gathered around the site as concerned residents watched rescue efforts begin.
Witnesses said many people rushed to the scene in an attempt to assist before the arrival of emergency officials.
Police officers from the Area E Command and the Satellite Division were among the first security personnel to reach the location.
They joined residents in efforts to rescue those trapped beneath the collapsed structure.
Search and rescue operations have since commenced as authorities work to locate and evacuate victims from the debris.
Emergency teams are expected to continue the operation until everyone trapped is accounted for.
As at the time of filing this report, there was no official confirmation on the number of casualties or injuries linked to the collapse.
The cause of the incident also remained unknown at the time of reporting.
