Nollywood Actor Hospitalised, In Need Of Surgery
The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has disclosed that a veteran Nollywood actor, Benedict Johnson is hospitalised and requires surgery.
Naija News reports that the National President of the AGN, Abubakar Yakubu, confirmed the development on Saturday while speaking to newsmen.
The confirmation follows public concerns raised by a viral video showing the actor undergoing an MRI scan.
He stated that the thespian is undergoing medical treatment for an undisclosed health condition that requires surgery.
Yakubu stated that the leadership of the guild is fully aware of the actor’s medical challenges and has committed to providing the necessary institutional support to ensure a successful surgical procedure.
“Yes, he is ill. Actually, he is ill and requires surgery. The guild is aware, and we are lending our full support to ensure that he undergoes this surgery,” Yakubu stated.
Johnson, an alumnus of Abia State University, began his professional acting career with appearances in pioneering Nollywood films such as Living in Bondage and Stolen Bible. Prior to his film career, he worked as a recording artist in the late 1980s.
Meanwhile, the body of Nollywood actor, Alexx Ekubo, has finally been laid to rest amid tears, tributes, and prayers from friends and family members.
Naija News reports that Alexx was laid to rest in his hometown in Arochukwu, Abia State, on Thursday, June 18.
The burial attracted a large turnout of mourners, including Nollywood actors and actresses across the country, to honour the late actor, whose career spanned more than a decade.
In one of the emotional moments from the burial ceremony, family, friends, colleagues, and loved ones gathered around as the late actor was committed to mother earth.
The reality of the painful goodbye settled in as mourners watched Alexx Ekubo’s final resting place become a symbol of a life remembered and cherished.
