Hakimi To Stand Trial Over Alleged Rape Case As French Court Upholds Decision

Morocco captain and Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi will stand trial over an alleged rape case after a French appeals court on Friday upheld an earlier decision to proceed with criminal proceedings.

The case stems from allegations made by a 24-year-old woman who reported to police in the Val-de-Marne region, south-east of Paris, in February 2023 that Hakimi had raped her.

Hakimi, who has consistently denied the accusation, welcomed the ruling, saying he had wanted the matter to reach court from the outset.

Shortly after the Versailles Court of Appeal delivered its decision, the PSG right-back posted on 𝕏: “waiting for this trial since day one.”

“At last, I’ll be able to speak.”

A date for the trial at the criminal court in the Hauts-de-Seine department has not yet been announced.

Hakimi’s lawyer, Fanny Colin, said the ruling did not alter her client’s position.

“This confirmation was expected. Nothing here says that he is guilty of anything; he remains steadfast in his defence,” Colin said.

The complainant’s lawyer, Rachel-Flore Pardo, described the court’s decision as a positive step for her client.

According to investigators, the woman told police she met Hakimi on Instagram in January 2023 before travelling to his home in a taxi allegedly arranged by the footballer.

She claimed Hakimi kissed and touched her without consent before raping her. The woman said she managed to push him away and sent a text message to a friend, who later picked her up.

The complainant, who has used the pseudonym Jeanne, spoke publicly about the case for the first time in an interview published by Mediapart on Thursday.

She said she wanted a trial “to defend myself, to be heard”.

“I want to explain myself. I want people to believe me,” she added.

The development comes as Hakimi remains a key figure for Morocco at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the North African side scheduled to face Scotland in their second group-stage match at 11 p.m. tonight, June 19.
