Scotland Ready To Trouble Brazil, Morocco At 2026 World Cup – McGinn

Scotland midfielder, John McGinn, believes his side can cause problems for both Brazil and Morocco at the 2026 FIFA World Cup despite acknowledging the quality of their upcoming opponents.

McGinn, who scored the decisive goal in Scotland’s 1-0 win over Haiti, said the team’s counter-attacking style could prove effective against the two top-10-ranked nations in their remaining Group C fixtures. Naija News reports that the victory lifted Scotland to the top of the group and marked a significant step towards the knockout stages.

“It was crucial. This was our pressure game; we were the favourites going into it. Haiti are a very difficult opponent,” said McGinn, who ended an 18-month wait for an international goal.

“They have so many unique qualities that we are not used to playing against, so the important thing tonight was to get a clean sheet and get the three points, and we have managed to do that.

“Can we play a bit better? Of course, we can. But this is brilliant, and we will go into the games against Brazil and Morocco with more gears to go up. Scotland winning at a World Cup again is the main takeaway.”

The result ended a long wait for success on the major tournament stage. It was Scotland’s first victory at a major competition since 1996, and their first World Cup win since defeating Sweden in Italy in 1990.

Scotland now faces Morocco in Boston on Friday before taking on Brazil in Miami on June 24. A point from those two matches could be enough to secure progression to the next round of the tournament.
