Police Confirm Killing Of Three Security Agents During NIPSS Attack
The Plateau State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the death of three security personnel during the Tuesday early morning attack by gunmen on the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Plateau State.
The death was confirmed in a statement on Tuesday by the Plateau Police Public Relations Officer, SP Alfred Alabo.
According to him, the Commissioner of Police, Bassey Ewah, has deployed additional security reinforcements to the area, while patrols have been intensified to ensure the safety of residents and prevent any further breach of security.
Police added that the situation has been brought under control and normal activities have resumed in and around the institute.
The police spokesman added that investigations are ongoing to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
He urged members of the public to remain calm, vigilant and go about their lawful businesses without fear.
Recall that Naija News had earlier reported that gunmen in the early hours of Tuesday, attacked the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, near Jos, Plateau State.
The attack was confirmed in a statement by the NIPSS Head of Public Affairs Department, Dr Osime Samuel.
According to him, the situation was promptly brought under control by security personnel and relevant security agencies, adding that there is no threat to the safety of participants, staff, residents, or facilities of the Institute, and normal activities are continuing as scheduled.
Reacting to speculations of the death of some security agents during the attack, Samuel said such reports remain unconfirmed and further updates will be made public as soon as verified information is available.
