Reno Omokri Reacts To Allegations That Police Staged Rescue Of Adelabu’s Relatives
Nigeria’s Ambassador-designate to Mexico, Reno Omokri, has taken a strong position on the claims that the rescue of the relatives of a former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, by the Police was staged.
Omokri, in a statement on Sunday via his 𝕏 Account, challenged a netizen identified as Okafor Samuel, who questioned the authenticity of the rescue, to provide evidence that the video is fake and staged.
Naija News earlier reported that the Nigeria Police Force has rescued Mrs Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, alive after they were abducted in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The victims were rescued during a late-night operation carried out around 7:30 pm on Saturday, June 6, 2026.
Mrs John-Paul is the younger sister of a former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu.
However, shortly after the video of the rescue operation went online, some Nigerians began claiming that it was staged.
Reacting to one of the claims, Omokri highlighted that spreading false information about security matters is a crime.
He added that those claiming the operation was staged or fake should be ready to provide evidence to support their claims when authorities demand it.
He wrote, “Dear Okafor,
“Thank you for your feedback. If you have evidence that the video is fake and was staged, I encourage you to publish it. Additionally, some of the kidnappers were captured alive. You may want to visit with them so you and the kidnappers can compare notes.
“Finally, I hope you are aware that spreading false information about security matters, which can cause panic and incite public disaffection against the constituted government of Nigeria, is a crime.
“If and when you are traced and invited to provide evidence in support of your claims, I hope you can substantiate them, rather than whip up sentiment and claim you are being targeted.
“Thanks again, and may God bless you.”
