Police Rescue Adelabu’s Sister, Twin Sons, Kill Two Suspects
The Nigeria Police Force has rescued Mrs Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, alive after they were abducted in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Naija News reports that the victims were rescued during a late-night operation carried out around 7:30 pm on Saturday, June 6, 2026.
Mrs John-Paul is the younger sister of a former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu.
A police source who spoke with Channels TV said two suspected kidnappers were killed during a gun duel with operatives.
Two firearms were also reportedly recovered from the gang.
According to the source, sustained intelligence tracking and tactical pressure forced the kidnappers into a confrontation with security operatives, leading to the rescue of the victims.
The source added that security operatives were still combing nearby areas for fleeing members of the kidnapping syndicate.
Some of the fleeing suspects were believed to have escaped with gunshot wounds.
Mrs John-Paul and her twin sons were abducted around 7:30 a.m. on June 3, 2026, while she was taking the children to school in Ibadan.
In an earlier statement confirming the abduction, Adelabu’s media aide, Femi Awogboro, said the incident had left the family distressed.
“We are deeply distressed by this unfortunate incident but remain hopeful that the victims will be rescued safely. We appeal to the public to remain calm, avoid speculation, and support ongoing efforts with prayers,” the family’s statement read in part.
Mrs John-Paul is the youngest of five children of Mrs Olufunmilayo Aduke Adegoke Adelabu.
She reportedly retired voluntarily from First Bank Pension Custodian in 2025 before relocating to Ibadan with her children.
