Trabzonspor Reject €11 Million Saudi Bid For Paul Onuachu

Trabzonspor have turned down an €11 million offer from a Saudi Arabian club for Paul Onuachu, with the Turkish side insisting the bid falls well below their valuation of the Nigerian striker.

According to Turkish outlet Takagazete, the proposal is the second approach from Saudi Arabia to be rejected for the 32-year-old in 2026. Saudi giants Al-Ahli also failed in an attempt to lure the forward away from Trabzonspor during the January transfer window.

Naija News reports that the latest rejection comes after a remarkable campaign from Onuachu, who enjoyed one of the finest seasons of his career in the Turkish Süper Lig.

The Nigeria international finished as the league’s joint-top scorer with 22 goals, sharing the Golden Boot honour with Eldor Shomurodov. His achievement also placed him among an exclusive group, becoming only the sixth player in Trabzonspor’s history to end a season as the league’s leading striker.

Onuachu’s impact extended beyond league competition. He claimed the Süper Lig Goal of the Season award after producing a spectacular overhead kick against Fatih Karagumruk and later inspired Trabzonspor to Turkish Cup glory.

The towering striker scored both goals in a 2-1 win over Konyaspor in the Turkish Cup final in May, delivering one of the defining displays of the club’s season.

Trabzonspor president Ertuğrul Doğan revealed this week that the club have received offers for seven players during the current transfer window and expect one or two departures before the market closes. Onuachu is understood to be among those attracting serious interest.

While Trabzonspor remain unwilling to accept offers below their asking price, indications from head coach Fatih Tekke suggest the striker’s future remains uncertain.

Tekke is reportedly keen to reshape his attack and is searching for a more mobile forward capable of leading the press and contributing more aggressively to the team’s defensive work.

That profile differs significantly from Onuachu’s strengths. Standing at 201 centimetres, the Nigerian is renowned for his aerial dominance, penalty-box movement and clinical finishing rather than relentless pressing from the front.
