‘Zoning Has Damaged Nigeria’ – Hakeem Baba-Ahmed

The National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has said zoning a presidential candidate to a particular region is not important, but competence and capacity.

Naija News reports Baba-Ahmed made this remark during an interview on Arise Television on Thursday.

Baba-Ahmed claimed that zoning has damaged Nigeria beyond what one can imagine.

He added that the PRP will field a presidential candidate regardless of his religious or ethnic background.

He said, “Fielding a candidate from a particular zone is not important. I believe that it doesn’t matter where the candidate is coming from.

“Insisting that the president must come from one part of the country has damaged this country beyond anything you can imagine.

“Look, we lived for eight years under a very inept, incompetent, and indifferent administration of President Muhammadu Buhari. He was from the north.”

Meanwhile, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has said he would work towards removing President Bola Tinubu from power in the 2027 general elections.

Naija News reports that Baba-Ahmed stated this during an interview on Channels Television.

The PRP chairman described Tinubu as “bad news” for Nigeria’s future.

“I will work to get Tinubu out of place because I think he is bad news for Nigeria’s future,” he said.

According to him, the PRP’s major agenda ahead of the next elections is to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
