BBNaija Star DeeOne Wins Lagos House Of Assembly Ticket

Popular Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) reality show star and comedian, Aderombi Adedayo Martins, better known as DeeOne, has emerged as the House of Assembly candidate of the BOOT Party for Ibeju-Lekki Constituency 1 in Lagos State.

Naija News reports that BOOT party, which stands for (Because Of Our Tomorrow), is a registered political party officially recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

DeeOne secured the ticket after winning the party’s primary election ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking after his victory, DeeOne, in a post shared on his Instagram page on Wednesday night, expressed appreciation to the BOOT Party for trusting him with the ticket.

He said the party’s decision to vote for him at the primary election was a strong show of confidence in his capacity to represent the people of Ibeju-Lekki Constituency 1.

He wrote, “I want to thank my party, BOOT party, for the confidence in voting for me to emerge the winner of the primary election for Ibeju-Lekki Constituency 1.”

The comedian also assured residents of the constituency that he would serve with humility if elected into the Lagos State House of Assembly in 2027.

DeeOne said his ambition was not to lord himself over the people but to work for them and represent their interests.

“To Ibeju lekki constituency 1, come 2027 by the grace of God, I will be your worker and not your boss,” he said.

His emergence places him among entertainers seeking elective positions as political activities gradually build up across the country.

Barely a week ago, notable Nollywood actress and film producer Esther Okereke emerged as the presidential candidate of the National Rescue Movement (NRM) ahead of the 2027 general election.

Okereke secured the party’s ticket after defeating former Labour Party presidential aspirant Joseph Faduri and UK-based businessman Ademola Onigbokun at the NRM presidential primary held in Abuja.

Her emergence places her among the few women to secure the presidential ticket of a political party in Nigeria’s democratic history, as political parties begin early preparations for the 2027 election cycle.

Okereke is now expected to join other opposition figures seeking to challenge President Bola Tinubu in what is shaping up to be a highly competitive presidential contest.

Presenting Okereke to delegates as the party’s flag bearer, the National Chairman of the NRM, Chinedu Obi, said the party was determined to offer Nigerians a leadership that could address the country’s economic and security challenges.
