‘You Have To Belong To Gang’ – CDQ Drops Bombshell About Music Industry
Nigerian rapper, Sodiq Yusuf, better known as CDQ, has claimed that artistes only get help when they belong to a particular caucus, gang, or cult in the music industry.
Naija News reports that CDQ made this known during a recent interview on Jbrandy Entertainment.
The ‘Secure The Bag’ hitmaker argued that independent artistes without such connections often struggle and end up spending a lot without seeing any return.
He said, “The hardest truth about the music industry is that it has turned into a place where you have to belong to a particular caucus, gang, or cult before anyone can help you.
“If you are able to succeed as an independent artist without any of that, then you should thank God for it. If you don’t belong to any group or gang, you might end up spending a lot without seeing any return.”
Recall that CDQ rose to prominence after releasing his 2015 hit single ‘Nowo E Soke’, which featured Grammy-award winner, Wizkid.
Over the years, the musician has built a reputation as a prominent indigenous rapper in Nigeria, known for his distinctive ad-libs, including the widely recognised ‘Woss Wobi’.
In November 2016, he took another major step in his career by launching his own record label, N.S.N.S (No Struggle No Success Entertainment).
