Oyo APC Condemns Abduction Of Adelabu’s Sister, Twins
The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned the abduction of Mrs Busayo Adelabu John-Paul, sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and her 12-year-old twin sons.
Naija News reports that the party described the incident as another sign of worsening insecurity in the state.
Mrs John-Paul was abducted on Wednesday morning in the Elewura-Challenge area of Ibadan by unidentified gunmen.
The assailants were said to have trailed the vehicle conveying the victims from their residence before intercepting it and taking them away around 7:30 a.m.
Reacting in a statement issued in Ibadan by its Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, the APC said the incident had heightened public concern over security in Oyo State.
The party noted that the abduction came amid anxiety over other unresolved kidnap cases in the state.
It cited the continued captivity of schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area, as well as two staff members of the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria kidnapped in the Idi-Ayunre area of Oluyole Local Government Area.
The APC called on Governor Seyi Makinde to strengthen collaboration with security agencies and other stakeholders.
It said urgent steps were needed to address the rising wave of kidnappings and restore public confidence in the state’s security system.
The party also urged authorities at all levels to review the state’s security architecture and close existing gaps.
The opposition party demanded the immediate rescue of all abducted victims in the state.
It listed the Oriire school victims, the CRIN staff, Mrs John-Paul and her children among those whose safe return should be prioritised.
The APC said the worsening insecurity required urgent and decisive action by the government and security agencies to protect residents and restore safety across Oyo State.
