Oyo Police Confirms Abduction Of Ex-Minister’s Sister, Twin Sons
The Oyo State Police Command has begun investigations into the abduction of Mrs Olufunmilayo Aduke Adegoke, sister of a former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and her twin sons in Ibadan.
Naija News had earlier reported that the victims were kidnapped on Wednesday.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, confirmed the incident in a statement.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State directed the Divisional Police Officer of the Challenge Division and tactical teams to proceed to the scene immediately upon receiving the report.
The command said the victims’ vehicle had been recovered. It added that search operations had commenced to track down the kidnappers and rescue the victims unharmed.
“The Oyo State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the abduction of Mrs Olufunmilayo Aduke Adegoke and her twin sons, who were reportedly abducted earlier today,” the statement read.
The police assured residents that all necessary resources had been deployed for the rescue operation. The command said efforts were ongoing to apprehend those responsible and bring them to justice.
DSP Olayinka urged residents to remain calm, law-abiding and cooperative.
He appealed to members of the public to provide credible information that could assist security agencies in rescuing the victims and arresting the perpetrators.
The police spokesperson reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across Oyo State, adding that updates would be provided as investigations progress.
