Bala Mohammed Speaks On Plan To Dump APM For PDP, Emerge Jonathan’s Running Mate

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has dismissed reports suggesting that he plans to leave the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 elections.

Naija News reports that Mohammed also denied claims that he was being considered as former President Goodluck Jonathan’s running mate.

The governor, in a post on X on Sunday, said his political focus remains on contesting the Bauchi South Senatorial District seat on the platform of the APM.

“Thank you for your interest in my political aspirations. However, for the sake of clarity, my focus remains firmly on contesting for the Bauchi South Senatorial District seat under the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement,” he wrote.

He urged the public to disregard contrary reports.

“Any reports suggesting a different political course should be disregarded as speculative and inaccurate,” Mohammed added.

The governor’s reaction followed a post by Nuhu Sada, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate for Zaria Kewaye Constituency in the 2025 Kaduna State House of Assembly by-election.

Sada had claimed that Mohammed could leave the APM for the PDP and be considered as Jonathan’s running mate.

The speculation came after a faction of the PDP led by Tanimu Turaki reportedly affirmed Jonathan as its consensus presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.

The faction claimed the decision was taken despite a police blockade and threats concerning the planned convention venue in Abuja.

Mohammed, however, insisted that his political direction remains with the APM and his Bauchi South senatorial ambition.
