What Arsenal, PSG Are Saying Ahead Of 2026 UEFA Champions League Final
Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain have set the stage for a heavyweight UEFA Champions League final showdown in Budapest on Saturday, with both clubs chasing another defining chapter in their histories.
The final at the Puskás Aréna pits the newly crowned Premier League champions against the reigning kings of Europe. Arsenal arrive in Hungary still riding the wave of their first English league title in 22 years and now stand one match away from securing a historic treble and the club’s first Champions League crown.
PSG, meanwhile, are aiming to defend the title they won last season after beating Inter Milan in the final. Luis Enrique’s side also carry recent psychological advantage after knocking Arsenal out 3-1 on aggregate in last season’s semi-finals.
Mikel Arteta’s men have responded impressively this term, reaching the final without losing a single European match. Their defensive discipline has become a trademark throughout the campaign, but they now face a PSG attack widely regarded as the most dangerous in Europe.
Paris winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia insisted the French champions are fully focused on themselves rather than the occasion.
He said, “We respect all of the teams. For us, it’s important to play our game. We don’t really think about who our opponents are going to be, we just prepare our game and give everything on the pitch. It will be difficult, it’s the Champions League final, and we just have to go and enjoy it.”
Midfielder João Neves said PSG’s mentality throughout the competition has prepared them for another high-pressure night.
“We’re very proud of our journey. We know how to suffer. We’re ready for what’s coming. Even with injuries, all the players are ready to play; that’s how you build a great team,” he noted.
Head coach Luis Enrique believes PSG’s growth over the past year has earned them another shot at European glory.
“The most important thing for us is to focus more on ourselves and less on the opposition. We’re talking about the best club competition in Europe, so yes, there’s an element of adaptation, because the standard is very high. But we’ve managed to raise our game too and we’re proud to be in the final again.”
Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice said the squad deserve credit for the run that has taken them to Budapest.
“I don’t think you can underestimate what we’ve done in this competition up to this point. We’ve every right to celebrate, it’s such a big moment. The Champions League is the most prestigious tournament and it’s a proud moment for the club and the boys.”
Bukayo Saka also spoke of the emotion surrounding Arsenal’s return to the biggest stage in European football.
“You can see what it means to us, what it means to the fans. We’re all so happy. It’s a beautiful story and I hope it ends well in Budapest.”
Arteta said the club’s unity and belief have driven Arsenal to the brink of history.
“We’re so aligned on the desire and ambitions we have for the club. Sometimes we’ve got lucky, things have to go your way, but we’ve put so much work, passion and belief into what we do. We are rewarded with an incredible day in Budapest.”
