Marafa Emerges Zamfara NDC Governorship Candidate
Senator Kabiru Marafa has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Zamfara State ahead of the 2027 election.
Naija News reports that Marafa secured the party’s ticket through a consensus arrangement during a meeting held in Gusau, the state capital.
The Chairman of the party’s electoral committee, Aminu Jelani, officially announced him as the NDC governorship candidate.
Speaking after the announcement, Marafa thanked party members for their support and confidence in him.
He promised to provide responsible leadership if elected governor of Zamfara State.
The former senator said corruption had slowed development in the state, pledging to promote accountability and prudent management of public funds.
Marafa also promised to improve governance and raise the living standards of residents. He said his administration would provide equal opportunities for people across the state if elected.
Marafa recently joined the NDC after leaving the African Democratic Congress (ADC). His defection was earlier confirmed by the NDC leader, Senator Seriake Dickson.
According to the party, Marafa agreed to help strengthen the NDC and lead its activities in Zamfara State.
In a related development, Professor James Ene-Nwannaji has emerged as the NDC’s governorship candidate in Enugu State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Naija News reports that Ene-Nwannaji was declared the winner of the party’s governorship primary held on Friday.
He defeated other aspirants, including Chief Chinyeaka Ohaa and Senator Gilbert Nnaji.
Announcing the result, the Secretary of the NDC in Enugu State, Dr Sebastine Okafor, said the primary was conducted across the 17 local government areas of the state.
