Aisha Yesufu Reacts As NDC Skips FCT Senatorial Primary

Human rights activist, Aisha Yesufu, has reacted after the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) decided not to conduct a primary election for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 elections.

Naija News reports that the development was disclosed in a statement posted on Yesufu’s official page.

According to the statement, the party will, however, proceed with primaries for House of Representatives seats in the FCT.

Yesufu urged her supporters to remain calm and focus on the bigger political objective.

The statement reads, “Our party has decided not to conduct primaries for the Senatorial seat in FCT Abuja. It however intends to conduct primaries for House of Representatives. Go ahead and make your choice known!

“I urge each and every one of you to remain calm and focus on the bigger picture, which is the presidential election. Nigeria will be OK!”

The activist appreciated those who supported her senatorial ambition under the #AishaForSenate project.

“I appreciate all your support, dedication and commitment towards #AishaForSenate project,” she said.

Yesufu said she would return to the six area councils of the FCT to appreciate residents for their support.

“In the coming week, I will be returning to all the 6 Area Councils, God willing, to appreciate them for the warm welcome and continue to forge ahead for a #BetterFCT,” the statement added.
