CAF Champions League: Golden Boot Battle Heats Up As Trezeguet, Atef Lead Top Scorers [Full List]

As the CAF Champions League group stage reaches its climax, Egyptian international Mahmoud Hassan ‘Trézéguet’ has emerged as the leading contender for the Golden Boot ahead of the final round of fixtures scheduled for Friday and Saturday.

Naija News reports that the Al Ahly forward currently tops the scorers’ chart with five (5) goals, putting him in pole position as clubs battle for qualification into the knockout stages of Africa’s premier club competition.

Trézéguet’s lead remains slender, with strong competition from fellow Egyptian Ahmed Atef of Pyramids and Mohamed Abdel Rahman of Sudanese side Al-Hilal Omdurman, both of whom have four (4) goals each.

The trio are expected to play decisive roles for their respective teams as the group stage concludes, with both qualification spots and individual honours still up for grabs.

Several players remain within striking distance of the top scorers, keeping the Golden Boot contest wide open ahead of Matchday 6.

Among them are Lucas Ribeiro Santos and Arthur Sales of Mamelodi Sundowns, Nasser Maher of Pyramids, Younes Chouiar of RS Berkane, Aboubacar Diakité of Espérance de Tunis, Ramos Kashala of St Éloi Lupopo, and Taddeus Nkeng of Stade Malien, all with two (2) goals apiece.

Mohamed Abdelrahman of Al-Hilal Omdurman is also listed among the players with two goals, underlining his side’s attacking depth in the competition.

With the last group matches set to be played this weekend, the race for the Golden Boot is expected to intensify, as top forwards look to add to their tally and guide their teams into the knockout phase.

The outcome of the final fixtures will not only determine qualification but could also reshape the scoring charts, as the battle for individual and team glory reaches a decisive stage.
