Transfer Updates: Joao Gomes, En-Nesyri, Paquetá, Souza, Malen, Others

Atletico Madrid have turned their attention to Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes following their decision to sell Conor Gallagher to Tottenham in the January transfer window.

Marca reports the Spanish side have identified the 24-year-old Brazilian international as a key transfer target as they reshape their midfield.

Wolves could also be set to lose another senior player, with L’Equipe reporting Zimbabwe midfielder Marshall Munetsi is close to completing a loan move to Paris FC.

Everton are pushing ahead with plans to bolster their attack. Fabrizio Romano reports the Toffees have submitted an official bid to Fenerbahce for Morocco striker Youssef En-Nesyri, with talks ongoing over an initial loan deal that includes a £17m option to buy.

Nottingham Forest remain in the picture for En-Nesyri, but Florian Plettenberg claims the striker currently favours a move to Goodison Park.

Everton’s interest in attacking reinforcements does not stop there. The Athletic reports the Merseyside club are also keen on Callum Wilson, with the 33-year-old striker in discussions to terminate his contract with West Ham.

Everton are among several clubs monitoring Ukraine right-back Yukhym Konoplya. Florian Plettenberg notes Werder Bremen and Ajax are also tracking the 26-year-old, whose contract with Shakhtar Donetsk expires in the summer.

At West Ham, uncertainty surrounds the future of Lucas Paquetá. ESPN reports the club will hold an internal shareholders’ meeting this weekend to discuss lowering their asking price for the 28-year-old midfielder, who is attracting strong interest from Flamengo.

Tottenham are close to finalising another signing. Sky Sports reports Santos left-back Souza is expected in London on Thursday to undergo a medical ahead of completing a £13m move to Spurs.

In Italy, Brentford are closing in on a deal for Lazio attacker Matteo Cancellieri. Gazzetta dello Sport claims the Premier League side are nearing an agreement worth £15.6m for the 23-year-old Italy international.

Crystal Palace are also active in the transfer market. Sky Sports reports the Eagles are in talks with Angers over a move for 19-year-old French forward Sidiki Cherif, who can operate centrally or out wide and still has two and a half years remaining on his contract.

Roma have agreed terms to bring Aston Villa forward Donyell Malen to Serie A. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Italian club will pay a £2m loan fee, with the deal including a £25m option to make the move permanent.

Bournemouth could face a battle to retain midfielder Alex Scott. Teamtalk reports the 22-year-old England international is attracting interest from several Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, Manchester City, Aston Villa and Newcastle United.
